Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information the SayVU application (the “Application”) collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices and rights you have. It forms part of this EULA. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the EULA.
1. Who we are and who is responsible for your data
The Application is provided by SayVU Technologies Ltd., Company No. 515315786, 13 Eliezer Kashani St., Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel (“SayVU”, “we”, “us”).
In most cases you use the Application through an organization, such as a municipality, an employer, a campus or a community (your “Organization”). Your Organization decides who may use its service, what the Application is used for and who receives your reports. For data processed for your Organization, your Organization is responsible for that data and SayVU processes it on your Organization’s behalf and according to its instructions.
For data you give us directly, for example when you register in the Application on your own, SayVU is responsible for that data.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: your name or username and your mobile phone number. We verify your number with a one-time code sent by SMS or WhatsApp.
- Location: your device’s location, as described in section 3.
- Your reports: the content of reports and messages you send, such as text, photos, videos, voice messages and notes, together with their time and location.
- Audio recordings: when you send a report, the Application automatically records 10 seconds of audio and sends it with the report. While you are still in the Application, the control center may also start a voice recording; the recording starts automatically.
- Responder and mission data: if you are a responder or field worker, your shift status, the tasks and missions assigned to you, your responses and their times.
- Device information: your device model, operating system and app version, battery level, and which permissions you have granted to the Application.
- Technical and usage data: crash reports and usage events, collected with Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, which help us keep the Application working and improve it.
We do not ask for your contacts list.
3. Location
Your location is at the heart of an emergency service, so we explain exactly when it is used:
- When you send a report or alert: your location is sent with the report to the control center and to the responders handling it, for as long as the incident is active.
- During a shift (responders): while you are on shift, your location is sent to your Organization’s control center so it can dispatch the nearest responder.
- Field missions: during a field mission, your location is shared from 30 minutes before the mission starts until the mission ends.
- Off shift: when you are not on shift and have no open report, the control center does not see where you are. If your Organization uses zones, the Application may detect when you enter or leave a zone, and the control center receives only a notice that you entered or left that zone, not your position on the map. Your Organization can turn this off.
- Area announcements: your Organization may send announcements to people in a specific area. The Application uses your current location to deliver to you the announcements meant for the area you are in.
Location may be collected while the Application is in the background, only for the purposes above. You can end your shift or turn off location access in your device settings at any time. Without location, the Application cannot send your location with a report.
4. Device permissions
The Application asks for permissions only for the features that need them:
- Location: to send your location as described in section 3.
- Camera and photos: to attach photos and videos to a report.
- Microphone: to record voice messages, to record audio automatically when you send a report, and to make video calls.
- Notifications and critical alerts: to show you alerts and incoming reports, even when your phone is on silent.
- Display over other apps (Android): to show emergency alerts on top of other apps.
- Motion (iOS): to let you send a report by shaking your phone.
You can grant or withdraw each permission in your device settings. Some features will not work without it.
5. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide the Application: register you, deliver your reports and alerts to the Approved Receivers, dispatch responders and show you incoming tasks.
- Notify the emergency contacts you choose, when you send a report.
- Transcribe voice messages and recordings into text for the control center.
- Keep the Application secure, prevent Misuse and False Reports, and investigate security incidents.
- Fix errors and improve the Application’s reliability.
- Comply with the law and with valid requests from authorities.
We do not use your information for advertising or marketing, and we do not sell it.
6. Who receives your information
- Approved Receivers: your Organization’s control center, its responders and the other receivers your Organization determines, which receive your reports and the information that comes with them.
- Your emergency contacts: the people you choose to notify when you send a report.
- Service providers that operate parts of the Application for us, under contract and only for that purpose:
- Google Cloud and Firebase: hosting, databases, push notifications, crash reporting, usage analytics and speech-to-text for voice messages and recordings.
- Vonage (SMS) and Meta (WhatsApp): sending your verification code. They receive your phone number and the code.
- Agora: video calls, when your Organization uses them. Video is not stored.
- Amazon Web Services: telephony services, when your Organization uses them.
- Apple and Google push services (APNs and FCM): delivering notifications to your device.
- Authorities: when the law requires it, or as described in section 2.5 of the EULA in a case of Misuse.
Maps in the Application are displayed with Google Maps or Apple Maps. Your location comes from your device’s GPS and is not shared with the map provider.
7. Where your information is stored
Your information is stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States and Europe, and may be accessed remotely by SayVU’s team for support and maintenance. These countries may have data protection laws different from those in your country. We protect transfers under our agreements with our providers.
8. How we protect your information
SayVU’s information security management system is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022. Data is encrypted in transit. The control center is accessed with a username and a password and supports two-factor authentication, access is limited by roles defined by your Organization, data is separated between Organizations, and the control center logs which operator opened each report and when. The Application was tested by an external penetration tester. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond to any incident.
9. How long we keep your information
Reports and zone notices are kept with no fixed deletion date, so that your Organization keeps a history of its incidents. We keep your other information for as long as your Organization uses SayVU and your account is active. Your location and route during a shift are no longer shown in the control center after the shift ends. When you, or your Organization, ask us to delete your information, we delete it from our systems and backups, except where the law requires us to keep it.
10. Your rights
Depending on the law where you live, you may have the right to access your information, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict its use, receive a copy of it, and withdraw your consent. In Mexico these are your ARCO rights.
If you use the Application through an Organization, please send your request to your Organization first. We will help it respond. You can also write to us at support@sayvu.com. We may ask you to verify your identity. We will respond within the time required by the law that applies to you.
You may also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
11. Children
The Application is not directed at children, but it may be used by minors when an Organization provides it to them. In that case the Organization is responsible for obtaining any consent required from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us information without the required consent, contact us and we will review the case and delete the information where appropriate.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you in the Application or by another reasonable means before material changes take effect, and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document.
